Roswell Youth Soccer Association CC ! CC Player of the Year & Coach of the Year

  • At its best, athletic competition can hold intrinsic value for our society. It is a symbol of a great ideal: pursuing victory with honor.
  • The love of sports is deeply embedded in our national consciousness. The values of millions of participants and spectators are directly and dramatically influenced by the values conveyed by organized sports. Thus, sports are a major social force that shapes the quality and character of the American culture.
  • Character Counts! in Chaves County Youth Sports Recognition Program strives to work closely with the youth sports organizations and recognizes their Character Athletes of the Year, as well as, Coaches of Character. Charactor Counts! in Chaves County are proud partners with the Roswell Youth Soccer Association working to improve sportsmanship. The recognition program "Pursuing Victory with Honor" is the national Character Counts! theme for good sportsmanship in athletics. Nominated by their coaches, soccer Athletes of Character (one from each squad) and soccer Coaches of Character (selected by the RYSA board) will be honored at the conclusion of the season.
  • For youth coaches to be eligible to identify athletes and receive recognition they will need to attend and complete a one and a half hour Pursuing Victory With Honor / Positive Coaching Alliance interactive CD/ROM training seminar presented by Character Counts? in Chaves County giving area coaches concrete direction in appropriately coaching young people. Once a coach has gone through the training he/she has completed CC ! CC's requirements. If a coach has taken the training for another youth sport, i.e., Yucca Center Basketball, he/she is certified in any youth sport in Chaves County. A certificate of completion will be presented to each coach at the conclusion of the training seminars. Character Counts! in Chaves County maintains the master list of coaches in all sports, however, it is recommended that each coach retain his/her certificate as proof of certification.
